Abstract
Cell surface components are known to play an important role in cell-to-cell interactions such as recognition, communication and adhesion (Nicolson, 1984; Liotta, 1987; Gabius et al, 1987). Such interactions are important during tumorigenesis, tumor progression and metastasis. Cell surface glycoconjugates, particularly, are known to be involved in the complex process of metastasis. The precise biochemical nature of the molecules involved and their relation to tumor progression is not known.
