Zusammenfassung

Elliot Proctor Joslin (1869–1962) war der Üerzeugung, dass mit der Entdeckung des Insulins der Diabetes mellitus seinen Schrecken verloren habe und formulierte sinngemäß in den 1920er Jahren “today it is not allowed to die of diabetic coma”. Dass sich diese Hoffnung nicht erfüllte, kann man in den ISPAD-(International-Society-for-Pediatric- and -Adolescent-Diabetes-)Guidelines des Jahres 2000 nachlesen.
