Abstract
The report briefly analyzes the making operations occurring during short circuit direct and synthetic tests, with particular consideration to the main characteristics required to the making-switch for synthetic make circuits. Two different types of ionization making-switches have been experimented on at CESI laboratories with satisfactory results and a multi unit 150 kA r.m.s. making-switch recently built and tested is described, particular attention being paid to the performances and the interesting possibilities offered by this device in the testing procedure.
